There was a client who was referred to us by a lady that helps older adults with daily living tasks. When I went to meet the client she had already spoken with another Estate Liquidator, which I was unaware of. This liquidator had no equipment to look at her valuables and did not look at or sort the sterling silver to see what its value was. He just pointed out negative things about her belongings such as wear and tear. He made the client, who was an elderly woman and an incredible artist, cry because he was so insensitive. He offered her a low-ball price and left her home without solving her problem.

We arrived with our professional equipment and looked at her sterling silver flatware to determine what was real and not real. We asked about different items and the stories and memories of her items, which allowed the client to express her emotions about her items and feelings for each item. The client could tell I had a deep appreciation and excitement for her belongings and the stories behind them. She was very pleased with our services in showing her kindness, compassion and respect for her items and their memories. I gave her a price and she accepted it. She then explained to me that our offer was 5 times more than the amount the previous liquidator had offered her.

This client was the granddaughter of a gentleman who resided in the local area. She lived out west more than 2000 miles away. Her grandmother passed away. The family did not want to leave the grandfather in the local area. The granddaughter came to transition her grandfather to the west coast to live close to her. She was going to need to travel twice to bring her grandfather to her home in CA and then travel back to Sarasota, Florida to liquidate the estate and sell her grandparents’ home.
